Healthcare Pathways

Is your child interested in teaching? The education and training pathway prepares students for multiple teaching career possibilities, including specialties like special education, speech-language, and early childhood learning.

Students will:

  • Discover the fundamentals of teaching, including lesson planning
  • Explore childhood development and education
  • Develop the teaching and speaking skills to lead a classroom

Is your child interested in the behind-the-scenes side of healthcare? Students learn how to help patients by managing health records and data. This pathway can lead to multiple careers, including health services manager, medical records technician, medical transcriptionist, and more.

Students will:

  • Gain a broad understanding of healthcare and hospital operations
  • Learn medical terminology and how it relates to medical billing and coding
  • Develop the teaching and speaking skills to lead a classroom

Is a career in public health in your child’s future? This pathway helps students prepare for a full range of career opportunities from entry-level to management, including technical and professional careers.

Students will:

  • Explore careers in public health and social services
  • Gain an understanding of medical office procedures and administration
  • Learn medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

If your child is interested in technology and healthcare, the Medical Diagnostics and Testing pathway may be a good fit. Students prepare for careers that use tests to detect, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, or other physical conditions such as EKG technician, phlebotomist, and radiology technician.

Students will:

  • Gain an understanding of medical office procedures and administration
  • Learn medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Explore all aspects of workplace safety

If your child dreams of serving and caring for people, this pathway will prepare them for a career helping patients in need. This pathway can lead to a career in sports medicine or as a certified nursing assistant, registered nurse, pharmacy technician, dental assistant, and more.

Students will:

  • Gain experience in patient care and nursing basics
  • Understand medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Develop the skills required to prepare for nursing assistant, dental assistant, or sports medicine certifications

Stride Nursing Club

Open to anyone age 13 and up, the Stride Nursing Club provides the opportunity to learn about in-demand nursing positions available at all education levels. Each month, students gather for an in-depth discussion with nurses nationwide to share their career journeys. To join, simply register for one of the upcoming speaker sessions.
