WVVA is open to full-time West Virginia residents in grades K–11. We offer a personalized approach to education; comprehensive support from experienced, West Virginia-certified teachers; career and college prep for grades 6–11; and Honors and AP® courses.

The Support You and Your Student Need

Our teachers are committed to helping your family succeed with online learning. They provide instruction and support as your child works through the curriculum. And they keep the lines of communication open through email, phone, online “Class Connect” sessions, and online and in-person activities. You’ll also receive textbooks and other hands-on materials delivered right to your door! These offline materials complement the interactive online elements of the lessons and vary by grade and course.

Career and College Prep

You can use your high school years to figure out where you want to go and how to get there. In addition to core courses, you’ll take career-focused electives to explore your options and find your passion—all while earning your high school diploma. Discovering what you want to do now can prepare you to dive into a career right out of high school or help you make the right decision about your college major. Career fields include Business Management & Administration; Health Science; Information Technology; and Marketing.

Each full-time student (and their Learning Coach, often a parent or guardian) is surrounded by a team of committed teachers, counselors, and academic coaches to ensure they are taking the necessary steps to achieve their true potential. School Opening and Location

MU Prep held its inaugural first day of school on August 3, 2022, for Indiana residents only. For the 2023–2024 school year, MU Prep has expanded to offer our innovative, virtual full-time enrollment to students in grades K–10 in more than 30 states. We will also offer grades 11 and 12 in the coming years. MU Prep-Indiana offers a fully virtual program to students across the state and a hybrid learning option, including in-person learning at Marian University in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana. Conveniently located, the beautiful campus is an inspiring place to learn and reflect. MU Prep hopes to expand hybrid learning models to other locations in the future.

Keystone students learn at a distance, but the support and school experience are hands-on.

At GCPA, your child can experience an education that empowers them to shape their own path and pursue their passions. GCPA welcomes students from across the United States as well as from select countries. We serve a range of diverse learners who are looking for a full-time education solution in grades K-10. We also have opportunities for part-time learners who are looking to enroll in individual courses.

Upshur County is a full-time, interactive, online public school with flexible pacing for students in grades K-12. We offer passionate and supportive state-certified teachers, parent resources, demos, and assistance to start your child off strong. In 2021 we launched a virtual learning options in which K-5 students have access to both online and offline materials and middle and high school students learn fully online. The high school platform gives students access to courses that may not be available in a brick-and-mortar setting.

Academics

Students will access a full course load across the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, and history. At the conclusion of their high school career, upon completing graduation criteria, students will graduate with a diploma from Buckhannon-Upshur High School.

Vision

The vision of Upshur County Schools is that all children shall be successfully educated to prepare them to be our communities’ and nation’s citizens, parents, and leaders for the twenty-first century. Schools shall develop a comprehensive and balanced curriculum, with engaging instruction and student access to advanced learning technologies, a rich library collection of books, and other information resources for success in the arts, sciences, humanities, and technical instruction.
